Growing up, Whitney Houston’s “The Greatest Love of All” resonated deeply with me, though its true meaning only unfolded later in life. My childhood, masked by normalcy to outsiders, was riddled with emotional turmoil and a sense of unworthiness, instilled by my family’s harsh treatment.

I was the black sheep, constantly striving for a perfection that seemed perpetually out of reach. This pursuit led me down a path of people-pleasing, where I yearned for external validation to fill the voids within. Even my closest relationships were marred by betrayal, as friends took advantage of my need to be loved and accepted.

It wasn’t until my thirties, a period of introspection and self-discovery, that I began to unravel the layers of my being. This was my awakening – a period marked by personal development and a quest to find joy and purpose beyond the superficial metrics of success. It was a transformation from a withdrawn existence to a life rich in connection and self-expression.

My neighbor’s observation of my journey from darkness to light mirrored the profound changes within me. Embracing personal development, I launched a personal training and lifestyle mentoring business, yet the quest for deeper fulfillment continued.

The pivotal moment came with my foray into writing. My articles and book became a beacon of hope and inspiration, reflecting my newfound purpose: to impact lives through coaching, writing, and speaking. My dream now extends to supporting orphans, providing them with the love and personal development opportunities I yearned for.

Today, “The Greatest Love of All” holds a dual significance for me:

1. Acknowledging that children are our future, deserving of love and nurturing to grow into self-loving leaders.
2. Recognizing that the most profound love is self-love – an acceptance and celebration of one’s true self.

This song, once a childhood melody, now symbolizes my journey to self-love and the joy of embracing my authentic self. It’s a testament to the power of “Dare To Be You,” a mantra that guides my life and work.
