Embracing the ethos of ‘Dare To Be You,’ I have always seen the good in people. This outlook, while a strength, made me vulnerable in a world where not everyone shares the values of honesty and kindness. My experience with a financial service provider was a testament to this stark contrast.

I placed my trust and my business dreams in the hands of someone who promised growth and success. They lured me with tales of their past achievements and a network they claimed would be interested in my coaching services. What I didn’t see was the web of deceit being spun, a trap that used my dreams to exploit me financially.

As the promised success remained a distant dream, I found myself entangled in manipulative tactics. I was guilt-tripped and emotionally manipulated, receiving daily affirmations that made me question my own judgment. I was coerced into giving a testimonial that did not reflect my true experience, and I was persuaded to invest in ventures like a mobile app under the guise of potential client referrals.

Reflecting on this journey, I identify three critical warning signs that I initially missed:

1. Unfulfilled Promises: The consistent failure to deliver tangible results for my business was a glaring issue.
2. Ignorance in Basic Business Knowledge: Their unfamiliarity with essential business concepts like SWOT analysis should have raised an alarm.
3. Emotional Manipulation: The use of manipulative tactics to keep me invested in their services was a clear sign of their deceitful intentions.

This journey, though filled with challenges, has been an invaluable lesson in resilience and empowerment. It’s a narrative that many women might find familiar – a battle against manipulation and the journey towards reclaiming our power.
