My sister and I would rearrange the living room, blasting tunes from ABBA, Elvis Presley, and Kylie Minogue, twirling and singing until exhaustion. Those moments of unbridled joy, where we were our own audience, are etched in my memory.<\/p>\n<p>My father, a ballroom dancer and singer in his youth, unknowingly sowed the seeds of my love for music and movement. Yet, as I grew older, painful experiences cast a shadow over this love. Harsh criticisms made me box away my singing voice, silencing a piece of my soul.<\/p>\n<p>In my first rental home, I found solace in dancing alone, allowing myself small escapes into a world where judgment didn\u2019t reach. Nightclubs became my refuge, where anonymity gave me the freedom to move without fear. Yet, something was missing \u2013 a connection, an acceptance.<\/p>\n<p>Moving to Melbourne marked a turning point. I ventured into salsa classes, where warm smiles and encouraging instructors rekindled my passion for dance. I was clumsy, sure, but there was acceptance, camaraderie, and most importantly, a sense of belonging.<\/p>\n<p>Singing and dancing, for me, have always been about self-expression, about being unapologetically me. When the pandemic confined us to our homes, I faced my fears head-on. I began sharing my singing and dancing with my online community, a step I never imagined taking. The positive response was overwhelming, shattering my long-held fears and self-imposed limitations.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve sung and danced in front of the camera multiple times now, each time feeling a surge of gratitude and liberation. The pandemic, while challenging, became an unexpected catalyst in my journey. Those defining moments from my past no longer hold me back.<\/p>\n<p>So, to you reading this, if you&#8217;ve ever felt stifled by judgment or fear, remember my story. Embrace your passions, dare to be you, and find your rhythm. Your voice and your movements are uniquely yours \u2013 celebrate them.
