In my three-year journey as a coach, I’ve discovered the transformative power of sharing one’s truth publicly, especially for women who are often conditioned to be ‘too nice’ and accommodating. Initially, like many, I confined my experiences and insights to a private, secure social media profile, under the pretext of safety from judgment and criticism. However, this sheltered approach was a contradiction to my mission of empowering others and myself.
Stepping Out of the Comfort Zone
The real growth began when I stepped beyond the confines of a locked-down profile. Opening up to a broader audience not only expanded my reach but also brought an influx of diverse perspectives and support. This transition was a crucial step in embracing my full potential and inspiring others to do the same.
Navigating the Challenges of Public Sharing
Yes, going public meant facing detractors and critics. I recall an incident where a detractor left a slanderous review on my business page. Instead of retreating, I addressed it professionally, which led to the removal of the unfounded criticism by the social media platform. This experience taught me the value of resilience and standing firm in my truth.
Overcoming Fear and Building Resilience
One of the most challenging aspects was dealing with criticism from close friends. It’s never easy to part ways, but sometimes it’s necessary for personal growth. This step, though painful, was liberating and instrumental in building my resilience and self-assuredness.
Speaking Your Truth as a Path to Freedom
Now, I advocate for the power of vulnerability and authentic expression. It’s not about seeking approval or fearing detractors; it’s about being true to oneself and reaching those who resonate with your message. Your audience isn’t confined to a private circle; they are out there in the world, waiting to connect with your authentic voice.
A Call to Action for Fellow Professionals
For professionals in healthcare and coaching, there’s a profound contradiction in claiming to be open and truthful while still operating within the confines of private profiles. True change and impact happen when you step out into the open, ready to face both support and opposition.
Final Thoughts: Embrace Change for Growth ‘
Nothing changes if nothing changes.’ This mantra encapsulates my journey from private to public sharing. It’s a journey of facing fears, challenging the comfort zone, and embracing the unknown. Your truth is your power, and sharing it openly can be a beacon of hope and inspiration for others.
To every woman striving for authenticity and connection, remember that your voice matters. The path to empowerment lies in overcoming fears and embracing the vulnerability of public sharing. Let your experiences, your truth, be the light that guides others on their journey. ©
