What does your comfort zone do?
Your comfort zone is the flight or the part of us in our minds that protects or keeps up safe. When there is drama or issues in our lives that cause us to be afraid as confronting those issues in our heads may cause fear or pain this is what protect us and keeps us safe from getting hurt so instead of facing our fears and confronting those issues hoping to resolve those things our comfort zone will tell us not to stay and fight or figure things out but to run and hide and hope that it will just simply go away.
We all have choices and, like it or not, those choices we make have consequences to them, which are either good or bad. In the fear of them causing something bad and getting hurt we stay within this thing called our comfort zone and continue with our lives and doing the same old thing as that is what we know and what we know generally doesn’t cause us pain unless we have not learned from our past mistakes.
Staying with in the warm comfy cosey place called our comfort zone, which gives us certainty and stability, we stay protected from the unknown. For a while it feels great, but if we want to grow and change, then we must learn to embrace uncertainty and the unknown and the many possibilities that the unknown can bring us. If we don’t embrace new possibilities and options, then life becomes stagnant and can cause depression as instead of looking forward and evolving, we are constantly looking backwards and dwelling in the past, which can eventually cause depression amongst other mental illnesses.
Often times later on in life we regret never having gone down a different path never having chosen a different option and never having taken the chance to it or something different in our lives because we played it safe with in our comfort zone and therefore never got to be who we wanted to be and also never got to live the life we had dreamt of for so very long or even reaching our true potential in life.
We as humans are built to want more out of life than just merely living life day by day within that comfort zone. We want meaning and a purpose; we want to know that our lives are worth something before we die.
We all have hopes and dreams, but sadly for a lot of us, we will never get to live the life we have dreamt of or even to reach our true potential. This is because we have let our fears of the unknown and uncertainty consume us, making us anxious, nervous, and frightened so much so that we never take the first step towards trying. Instead of getting excited and wondering about how our live will positively change and how we will grow and evolve from the experience we let our fear about the unknown take control and make us anxious as we think of all the negative “what ifs” that could, might happen and we never actually find out what will happen if we walk down a different path (the path untaken), take a different turn in the road, choose a different option that will challenge us and help us to become all that we can be and evolving so that we can live our dream lives and be who we truly want to be.
Sure, we all make mistakes. I know for certain I have in my life. We learn, grow, and change from those mistakes we make. Through this process, we learn more about who we are and become better people.
Our lives will never change and we will never evolve as people if we let our fears overwhelm us and we stay tucked up away in our comfort zones and never giving ourselves the chance to be who we truly are or want to be. As a coach I have learnt what I have to be an example of change and getting outside of my comfort zone for my client to see that I am not just empty words and pushing them outside their comfort zone but I too get out of my comfort zone and face my fears. Yes, it is hard for me to face them, but I do it to be that example to inspire others and to change my life for the better. To show my clients that I also walk the walk regularly.
My videos of my singing and dancing and talking in front of the video camera are hard for me to do out. I constantly persist with it as this is how I dare to be my true self, to be outstanding and unstoppable in my life. I have had things in my past as a child that have tormented me and stopped me from singing and dancing in public for a good number of years and through my being an example for you I am really pushing myself to do these things and to show you that I am doing these things. To show you that taking the chance isn’t always as bad as we think they will be. To show you that to can push past your fears and be better and happier for it.
So it is up to you. You have two options.
Option 1)
Continue as you are playing it safe and never living the life you have dreamt of and not reaching your true potential!
Or
Option 2)
Challenge yourself, getting outside of that comfort zone of yours and embracing new options, possibilities paths to walk down and reaching your true potential and living the life you have dreamt of for so long.
Option 1 will bring you regret and option 2 will bring change evolution and growth in your life. ©
